What personally identifiable information is collected by DCXP Mountain Journeys?

Visitors may supply personally identifiable information (such as name, address, email address or telephone numbers) for various purposes on this site, or directly to our offices. These purposes include registering to receive e-mail newsletters, requesting further information about our trips, making a booking or simply asking a question about a DCXP Mountain Journeys product. DCXP Mountain Journeys does not collect personal information from you unless you provide it to us. This means that you can visit our site without telling us who you are or revealing any personally identifiable information about yourself.

How is information used?

When you supply information about yourself we do not divulge any information we gather from you to any third party without your prior consent. If making a booking with us, additional information will be required for operational reasons.

Medical information

For operational requirements some medical information will need to be submitted as part of your journey with us. The information you provide will treated as highly confidential and will be only made available to the expedition leader, staff on a need to know basis, operations co-ordinator and DCXP Mountain Journeys’ medical advisor. Files will be kept for 7 years and then destroyed.

Security

Personally identifiable information is stored on servers that are not publicly accessible. Further, personally identifiable information is only accessed by DCXP Mountain Journeys employees on a "need to know" basis. Credit card details are NOT stored on our database when you book, or buy products on our site.

The lock icon at the bottom of your browser indicates when you are in a secure section of the DCXP website. The DCXP secure site uses a 128-bit Geotrust Digital Certificate (Further information about this feature can be found at http://www.geotrust.com). This ensures the confidentiality of your information, and is also used to help confirm that the server you are passing information to is DCXP's server. If any other Internet user intercepts the communication they will only be able to see it in an encrypted form.

When you connect to a secure web server you ask that server to authenticate itself. This authentication is quite a complex process involving public keys, private keys and a digital certificate. The certificate tells you that an independent third party has agreed that the server belongs to the company it claims to belong to.

DCXP uses secure socket layer (SSL) encryption for its payment details that are transmitted using the Internet. SSL encrypts web communication, allowing us to take credit card orders and protect sensitive personal information. SSL security makes eavesdropping on secure web traffic almost impossible.

Geotrust SSL certificates are compatible with all recent browsers, including Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and above and Netscape Netscape Navigator 4.6 and above. If you are using a Macintosh operating system the certificate is compatible with Internet Explorer 5 and above. DCXP does not recommend the use of older browsers for secure transactions.

A session is only valid for a certain period of time after your last activity with the server. If no activity is detected in the set time frame (for example 20 minutes), then your session is logged off and the 'session cookie' (login token) is no longer valid. Once your session expires, you will have to log on again to authenticate yourself for another session.

All reasonable steps are taken by DCXP to protect a customer's personal information, in particular the credit card details supplied by registered users.

Choice/Opt-out

If you have registered to receive communications from us and later change your mind, you will be given the chance to unsubscribe on every e-news you receive or by writing to us specifically requesting we no longer contact you for any reason.

Correct/Update

If you would like to verify the data we have received from you or to make corrections to it, you may contact us directly by e-mail.
